3 Clues You Have a Subconscious Fear Holding You Back

A few weeks ago, I shared a few tools to help you reconnect with your heart and transcend fearful emotions into love and gratitude.

Just a quick recap… Emotions are one way that you disconnect from the heart.

By not seeing the perfection in the situation, an emotion is created which then creates a conditioned response or subconscious reflex that gets stored in your body. I often call this the Pavlovian response.

Side note: Pavlov was a Russian physiologist who was famous for conditioning.  If you think back to grade 9, or whenever they taught this stuff- lol, I’m sure you can remember his experiment where he used a bell to condition his dog.

Every time he fed his dog he would ring a bell and the dog would salivate. Eventually, the dog would salivate to the sound of the bell even if there was no food. Essentially the dog became conditioned to believe that the bell meant food.

Same with us! Growing up when you saw something as either more painful than good or more awesome than bad, you created an emotion, which then created a conditioned response that got stored in your body.

This is important because later on in life, instead of living from your heart and just being you, you are instead reacting based on what happened when you were younger.

For instance, let’s say you have a family event this weekend. You had a solid pep talk with yourself where you promised that you weren’t going to react the way you usually do when you see your family and that instead, you were going to practice love and patience.

Two minutes into being home it’s like Pavlov rang his bell and a switch went off and you responded the exact way you said you weren’t going to.

Whenever this happens you subconsciously decrease your self-worth because in the back of your mind “good things happen to good people” and “bad things happen to bad people.”

That is NOT true!

When you are able to be centered and grateful, you are connected to your heart and you do not experience emotions.

Having tools to transcend your emotions is SO important!

Here are a few tools that I shared in my previous blog to help you when you are feeling a little stressed or disconnected from your heart.

  1. Journal
  • By writing how you feel and giving yourself permission to just write whatever comes up, you are embracing the emotions and not just avoiding them.
  1. Gratitude
  • Seeing both sides of the situation. Having gratitude and seeing the perfection.
  • Ask yourself… since I am worthy of love how is this benefiting me?
  1. Mind/Body Techniques
  • There are different types of mind/body techniques that can help you reconnect with your heart and release stored blocks or emotions.
  • For example Heart Freedom Technique, Tapping, EFT, Inner Freedom, NET, etc.
  • You can read up on these or find someone who can help you with them (or feel free to reach out to me and I can help you out).

By far the most powerful and game-changing tool I use to help you to live from your heart rather than fear is the Heart Freedom Method.

Not only does it dissolve the conditioned reflexes that are holding you back, but it also instantaneously increases your self-worth. This is huge because increasing your self-worth impacts all areas of your life.

Here is a quick and easy guide to help you identify if you have a subconscious fear or block holding you back…

3 clues you have a subconscious fear holding you back:

1. You know what needs to be done but don’t do it.

e.g. Health – You have set an intention to eat healthier and follow a nutrition plan but instead of following it you eat junk instead.

2. You know what needs to be done and you are doing it but it feels like a struggle (inner fight).

e.g. You are following your diet but it is a huge struggle and there is a lot of resistance. It seems WAY harder than it should.

3. You do what needs to be done but you get the opposite results

e.g. You are eating healthy and working out but instead of losing weight and feeling good you gain weight and feel like crap.

It is very important to be aware of this because you don’t create what you want in life… you create what you believe!

Take a minute and write down at least one thing that is currently going on in your life for each clue.

For instance, where in your life are you not doing something that you know would be good for you? Maybe it’s making a phone call, working out, changing careers, dating, etc.

Do this for each of the three clues.

If you are procrastinating it’s not because you are lazy, it’s because subconsciously you believe that there is going to be more pain than pleasure.

Your conscious mind wants it but subconsciously you are saying no, this isn’t safe, people aren’t going to like you anymore, you will be rejected, you aren’t worthy, etc.

This is where the Heart Freedom Method comes in. It helps dissolve any story that could be holding you back from knowing that you are worthy of love.

Here’s how it works:

First, I explore a goal you are working on or look for something or somewhere where you feel stuck or blocked. This can be in terms of any area of your life, including relationship, finances, career, health, self-imagine etc.

Usually, a great place to start is with one of the answers you wrote down for the 3 clues you have a subconscious block exercise from above.

Next, I guide you to feel what it would feel like to achieve that reality or goal.

For example: what would it feel like if you were making the phone call to your big client? Or how would it feel at your desired weight?

Thirdly, I guide you to identify the sensation in the body and connect with the emotion (or stored block) associated with it.

Next, I help guide you to go back in space and time to that moment when that subconscious block was created. This part is really neat to observe (and experience) because when you are in your heart the memory just pops up.

The key is to dissolve the emotion and illusion that you are unworthy of love. I do this by helping you look at the big picture and helping you find the perfection in the situation.

This is super important because by you coaching yourself in a way that provides wisdom and guidance for the rest of your life, it increases your self-worth quickly and this will be reflected in all areas of life. I love this part because it creates conscious healing.

Lastly, I have you project yourself into the future. By doing so you gain greater insights regarding what you are supposed to learn and inner guidance.

Before moving on, I circle back to see if the sensation is still present in your body. If not, then we continue the process.

Like anything, it’s not about a quick fix or band-aid solution. It’s about having tools to help you create lasting and meaningful change.

Although it’s awesome to learn and read about how it works, it’s a billion times more powerful if you can actually experience it for yourself.
