How To Get Unstuck and Out of Your Overthinking Loop

Thinking about the past or worrying about the future, is one way to get stuck and miss out on the now.

The key is to focus on what is important right now, and then do that.

Taking action, however small it is will help get you unstuck and out of your overthinking loop.

The next time you are overthinking or feeling anxious, try one of these tips…

Ask what is the next small step you can take right now? By breaking it down you help bypass the subconscious fear that’s holding you back and getting you stuck.

This can be a game changer for everyone, especially those who have big goals. When you have a big vision or big goal, it’s easy to get overwhelmed about all the things you have to do, which inevitably ends in you taking no action.

By breaking it down to the tiniest next step it makes it so much more manageable and less scary.

For instance, let’s say you committed to running a 10k race in the fall and you committed to starting a new running routine in the morning. Once your alarm goes off, you atomically think of the big audacious goal ahead of you, you become paralyzed by fear and end up hitting the snooze button and going back to sleep.

Here’s a little trick that you can try. Set your goal or intention for that day or week super small. Like ridiculously small. For the entire week, focus on waking up and just putting your running shoes on.

When your alarm clock goes off and all you have to do is just get up and put on your shoes you are much more likely to do that. It’s totally doable!

Once you master that, ask what’s the next baby step you could take? Perhaps it’s putting on your shoes and walking to the end of your driveway. The odds are once you are outside you’ll end up surpassing your goal anyway, but even if you don’t you are still winning and creating a habit.

You can use this for any goal. Maybe you want to start writing. Week one, wake up early; open your notepad or MacBook. That’s it that’s all. If you do more, then that’s awesome.

Here are a few more tips to help you stop overthinking and get unstuck…

  • Ask yourself what is important right now. Bring your attention back to the present moment and the now.
  • Remember there are no mistakes in life just lessons. Feel free to use this as a mantra or affirmation if it resonates with you. Another great affirmation is “Outside of my comfort zone, lies my destiny.”
  • Doing your inner work and releasing old stories and fears as they pop up is also key! You can read different books or reach out to an expert for guidance.

I’d be happy to help you out with any questions you may have. Releasing subconscious blocks is my jam 🙂
